Moodmedia is one of the world’s leading background-music providers, delivering curated music experiences to thousands of retail, hospitality and entertainment environments worldwide.
Managing a catalog of over 100 million tracks and the ingestion pipelines needed to maintain it required significant engineering investment, licensing oversight and operational coordination across more than 150 suppliers.
Moodmedia partnered with MassiveMusic to replace this fragmented, resource-heavy setup with a single, unified infrastructure.
Through our API and metadata solutions framework, Moodmedia now receives high-quality audio, normalized metadata, and enhanced metadata, all without having to ingest or store millions of unused tracks or maintain ingestion relationships themselves, and advancing their search capabilities without additional 3rd party integrations.
Moodmedia faced several operational and licensing challenges as their global footprint expanded:
A massive ingestion pipeline they no longer needed: To remain compliant, Moodmedia historically ingested entire supplier catalogs even though they used only a fraction of the content. Storing and managing over 100 million tracks created substantial engineering overhead and unnecessary storage costs.
Over 150 supplier integrations to maintain: Maintaining technical ingestion relationships for this volume of suppliers slowed operations and required continuous upkeep.
Fragmented metadata across catalogs: With inconsistent metadata from suppliers, Moodmedia needed richer tags, and scalable tools to power search, curation and internal discovery.
Manual effort to maintain licensing and rights alignment: Moodmedia needed a way to retain access to key suppliers without renegotiating terms or risking gaps in service.
They needed a partner who could deliver:
A broad music catalog
A unified API delivering only the content they actually use
Enhanced metadata for curation and advanced search
Access to exclusive suppliers (Believe and Tunecore)
A scalable pathway to 100M+ tracks without expanding internal infrastructure

MassiveMusic transformed Moodmedia’s operations with a consolidated, API-driven ecosystem that reduced complexity and strengthened compliance.
Our infrastructure eliminates the need for Moodmedia to manage ingestion systems, supplier relationships, or duplicate catalog storage.
Bringing all of these components together in a single delivery pipeline:
API-driven content ingestion: Instead of ingesting millions of tracks, Moodmedia now pulls only the audio they need directly through our API. We manage the full catalog storage and supplier ingestion, dramatically reducing their storage requirements and operational load.
Access to content from key suppliers: Through our existing agreements with Believe and Tunecore, Moodmedia retained uninterrupted access to these catalogs, delivered through MassiveMusic without renegotiation or downtime.
A consolidated supplier ecosystem: We currently ingest from over 150 suppliers for Moodmedia, providing normalized metadata and audio through one delivery pipeline. Supplier migrations continue, with the catalog expected to grow well beyond 100 million tracks in 2026.
Enhanced metadata and tagging: Moodmedia licensed our enhanced metadata, including genre, mood, energy, tempo, era and embedding data to power their internal search and curation tools. This provides more accurate, AI-driven discovery across the entire licensed catalog.
Synchronized metadata delivery: As we tag content at the point of ingestion, Moodmedia receives pre-tagged enhanced metadata aligned to standard metadata for seamless integration.

By centralizing catalog delivery, metadata enrichment and rights governance under one infrastructure, MassiveMusic has enabled Moodmedia to move towards a streamlined system built for global scale.
Key results:
Significant reduction in ingestion and storage costs: Moodmedia no longer stores or manages millions of unused tracks, dramatically reducing OPEX.
Consolidation across 150+ suppliers: Audio and metadata now flow through a single pipeline, removing the need for Moodmedia to maintain ingestion integrations.
Richer search & curation capabilities: Enhanced metadata powers natural-language search and advanced discovery tools within Moodmedia’s internal curation platform.
Rightsholder-approved metadata: Our AI-driven metadata is approved for use by rightsholders, ensuring risk-free adoption.
Stronger operational efficiency: Moodmedia’s engineering teams can focus on product development instead of ingestion, tagging and supplier management.
Scalable infrastructure built for 100M+ tracks: As their licensed catalog grows, delivery, metadata and rights reporting all remain fully synchronized.
Together, we’re powering the next generation of Moodmedia’s global background-music services, delivering clean audio, enhanced metadata and a compliant licensing backbone, so their teams can focus on.
